How does this work?Well it is simple. You make an appointment, state where you want me to come and I will show up with a portable treatment table. I can come to your home or to your workplace as long as there is a place where I can set up the treatment table. The first visit normally lasts up to 40 min where I take a case history and perform whatever orthopaedic or neurological tests needed to assertain how to best treat your condition. If I believe I can help then I will commence treatment already at the first visit, if not then I will refer you on to the appropriote health care practioner. Follow-up visits normally take 20 min.

How many treatments do I need? This is a common question and the short answer is it depends on your goals. The long answer is as follows... If you are seeking a temporary relief from lets say a tension headache than maybe 1-2 treatments is enough to achieve that. If the headaches are recurring and you want to dig a bit deeper into tha actual cause then 4-5 treatments might be more realistic. If it is a chronic problem with multiple causes such as a previous whiplash injury, stress, poor techinque when exercising or no exercise at all, poor ergonomics at work etcetera then it can take months of treatments and rehab to fully recover. There is no right or wrong here, some of my patients prefere to come only when they are in pain, get some relief from the treatment and then return whenever the problems come back. Others, especially athletes, are highly motivated to work on the root of the problem.

What is Chiropractic?Chiropractic is a primary health care profession. Chiropractors perform adjustments (manipulations) to the spine or other joints in the body. The goal is to correct alignment problems, ease pain, and support the body's natural ability to heal itself. A Chiropractor also do soft tissue treatments and help the patient find the right type and level of exercise. Ergonomics at home and at work are also important to address, e.g. how you sit or lift or even your sleeping position. There are usually multiple causing factors to your problem so the more things you address the better the chances of a positive outcome.

Which conditions do Chiropractors treat?Chiropractors care for patients of all ages, with a variety of health conditions. They are especially well known for their expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck pain and headaches using their highly skilled manipulations or chiropractic adjustments. Chiropractors also care for patients with a wide range of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, which includes the muscles, ligaments and joints. These painful conditions may involve or impact the nervous system, which can cause referred pain and dysfunction distant to the region of injury. In addition, chiropractors offer advice to patients on diet, nutrition, exercise, healthy habits, and occupational and lifestyle modification.

How is a chiropractic adjustment performed?Chiropractic adjustment or manipulation is a manual procedure that utilizes the highly refined skills developed during the Chiropractor´s intensive years of chiropractic education. The chiropractic physician typically uses his or her hands or an instrument to manipulate the joints of the body, particularly the spine, in order to restore or enhance joint function. This often helps resolve joint inflammation and reduces the patient’s pain. Chiropractic manipulation is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort. The Chiropractor adapts the procedure to meet the specific needs of each patient. Patients often note positive changes in their symptoms immediately following treatment

Why is there often a popping sound when a joint is adjusted?Adjustment (or manipulation) of a joint may result in the release of a gas bubble between the joints, which makes a popping sound. The same thing occurs when you “crack” your knuckles. The noise is caused by the change of pressure within the joint, which results in gas bubbles being released. There is usually minimal, if any, discomfort involved.

Is a Chiropractic treatment safe?Short answer: yes! Long answer: No treatment is 100% risk free. The most common reaction to a treatment is soreness, especially after the first treatment. It usually subsides in a day or two. Chiropractic treatments are gentle in the sence that no drugs or surgery are used, instead manual techniques are used together with advice and training to help the body heal itself. Serious complications are extremely rare, the most talked about is probably having a stroke after treating the neck. Research have not been able to see any clear correlation between the treatment and these events. It is probable that it is just as "dangerous" to simply turn your head. Nonetheless it is important to see a licensed Chiropractor which is extra important here in Estonia where Chiropractic is not regulated. Always ask for credentials.
